This Advent our class will be participating in the Pajama Project 2012 in conjunction with Scholastic Book Club.  We will be collecting Pajama’s for people who are in group homes, drop in centers, shelters and resource centers.  All sizes from infant to adult are needed.

We have located several receiving organizations in Campbell County.   Last year we were able to supply 3 organizations with Pajama’s.  Many were sent to a drop in center in Newport, some were sent to a local resource center and others were distributed throughout our community.

We collected over 100 pairs of Pajama’s last year.  The students have set a goal of collecting another 100 pairs to donate again this year.  Please help us with reach our goal of giving 100 pairs of Pajama’s to local homes, resource centers and shelters.

Please send all Pajama’s to school by December 19.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact myself and/or one of the students in the 5th and 6th grade.

The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation is offering sponsorships for campers attending the 2013 season of Camp Webb, June 24-28.  The camp fee is $230, the online registration was $200 last year.

All 4th, 5th and 6th grade student may attend Camp Webb.  Any student who would like to apply for a sponsorship will be required to write a short essay.  Students can write about which activities they most want to learn or participate in, such as Gun Safety, archery, Swimming, Boating and canoeing, Fishing, Outdoor Survival or Nature/wildlife Identification Class.  They may also write that they want to attend to earn their “Hunter Education” Card which young hunters need to hunt in KY once they turn 12.  The essay is due mid-December.
In the essay students should include their full name, parent’s name and phone number.  They should also state how much sponsorship money would be needed for them to attend camp.  They may ask for any $ amount from $1 - $230, although most scholarships will not be given for the entire $230.  However, Mr. Browning believes that every student that applies will be granted a sponsorship, as long as there are sponsors continuing to give money to the fund.  Mr. Browning also wants parents to know he will not be questioning any parent on their ability to pay or not.  Therefore it would be beneficial for all students wanting to attend camp to apply for a sponsorship, even for $50.

Please let me know if your child is interested in applying for a sponsorship.  There is a form that needs to be filled out along with the essay.

If you have any additional questions please let me know.
